Part of our mission is to serve communities, especially ones that are often overlooked. One of the ways we have been doing this is bringing music to senior citizens. We will be working in collaboration with GrowIn and StoryPoint Grove City Senior Living putting on four songwriting workshops. The goal is to have people from the senior community as well as outside volunteers and family and friends of residents write songs together. Not only is this providing enrichment for the community but also to the family members and friends that participate. In 2020 the pandemic hit the elderly community with little to no live music. MYMF has been working on providing videos made by musicians in Ohio and beyond for this specific reason to be played in senior facilities under the moniker Songs For Seniors. Check them out on the youtube page Songs For Seniors with Jim Shaw. Jim, one of the founders, has been working hard to put together these videos reaching out to musicians (like this one with Bill Cohen) and nursing homes to connect them with this resource and they have been well received by the community.
